Payment Policies
Our office provides medical and surgical services to the Yuba-Sutter community. Like every business, if we cannot operate at a reasonable profit, we must close. We must therefore be paid for the life saving, healing and educational services that we provide and minimize our costs of being paid.
When possible, we will ask you to pay at the time of service. Unlike most other businesses, there are many times we cannot determine what your cost will be (if you have insurance) and Medicare prohibits us from asking you to pay until after they have paid. To the extent that we can, we will give you a cost estimate before you are seen if you request it. Services planned at a hospital or surgery center may require partial payment or a deposit to the facility before surgery or a procedure is scheduled. This will vary based upon any contracts the facility has with your insurer, the type of procedure, and the anticipated cost.
Bartering will be considered, but only in advance with a written agreement. If you have been forced to utilize our services due to an unavoidable emergency and had no option to safely obtain another surgeon, we will try to find flexible, legal options to resolve your bill.
