Three things to do now

Circulate a petition

The campaign needs 7,000 signatures from registered voters in the 2nd Assembly District in order to qualify for the ballot. You can help by following this 7 step process:

  1. You must live in the 2nd Assembly District and be a registered voter. If you are not registered, Register Today!

  2. Print both pages of the in-lieu petition:
page 1 page 2 High Resolution - try saving to your computer if they don't print properly
page 1 page 2 Low Resolution - use these if you can't get the high resolution images to print properly
    TIPS:
    • On some computers, the petition pages print too big from your browser so only the upper left corner prints. If this happens to you, right-click and choose "Save as . ." or "Save Link as . .". Then print the file you saved.
    • These petition pages can be printed on separate sheets of paper or two-sided on one sheet.
    • Use your best print quality on regular 8.5 x 11" paper.
    • Adjust your "printer setup" so that your browser does not print the name of the web page, page numbers or date on the form.

  3. Get signatures from 10 registered voters in your county of residence. They must print their name, sign their name, and print their registered address.
If you meet people who are not registered, encourage them to register to vote. You may wish to bring voter registration cards with you. This candidacy is their chance to change the system and make their voice heard.
If you encounter a registered voter who lives in another District 2 county, encourage them to collect signatures. If you mistakenly get a signature from someone outside your county, simply put a line through their entry and make a note that they live in the wrong county. If you don't know that you have signatures of voters from outside your county, their signature will not be counted by your county clerk's office.

  4. Ensure that the writing is legible so that your county clerk's office can read and verify the signatures. You may wish to use the same pen so the ink is consistent, but this is not required for the petition to be valid.

  5. Explain to the voters that their signature is not a vote for me. It only means that they would have the chance in November, that they would have more choices, that they would have the opportunity to vote for change. Regardless of their chosen party, supporting my name appearing on the ballot will, by itself, bring positive changes to both parties. The parties will be forced to be more responsive to all of their members, not just their largest contributers or party elite.

  6. Once you have collected 10 signatures or are unable to reach 10 signatures, complete the petition by filling in and signing the second page. Even if you only get one signature on the first page, you must complete and sign the second page.

  7. Submit the completed petition (both pages) to the county clerk in your county of residence. Please respect the privacy of the signers and do not copy the petition before submitting it. Making copies is prohibited. If you are unable to deliver the petition yourself, you may give it to someone trustworthy to submit for you as long as you have completed and signed the second page.

Spread the word!

Contact other voters you know in or near California's 2nd Assembly District (Counties of: Colusa, Glenn, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, and parts of Butte and Yolo) and encourage them to investigate our campaign. If you know me, Dr. Ozeran, or have reason to trust me, perhaps you were a patient of mine, please include your opinion of my trustworthiness in your message.

"Transferred trust" represents what happens when I tell someone who I trust ("Buddy A") who also trusts me that I trust another person ("Buddy B"). Buddy A may trust Buddy B to some degree based on the trust between me and Buddy A. It is similar to word of mouth advertising for products or services. Though it may take a generation before we see the effect, I believe that it will be more useful in choosing our representatives than the current costly process of purchased name recognition (buying ads).

Contact your local media. Call in to talk radio to describe what we are doing differently and how it will help local residents. Write an opinion piece for you local paper. Participate in a cable access TV show. Write a blog. Contact people you know who write for our local media.

Send us your ideas

Volunteer to help with planning, marketing ideas, graphic design assistance, web programming, or anything else you think might help inform the voters that they could have more choices in candidates this year.
