Special Interest Everyone has their own interest to protect and each of us has a voice we can lend to our cause. In our current political environment, some people can afford to buy louder voices. An interest speaks with a voice which is proportionate to actual representation among constituents. A special interest speaks with a voice that is much greater than their actual representation among the People.

Examples of powerful special interests include the banking and insurance industries. They represent a relatively small proportion of the population, yet by giving money much greater than other interests, their voice in government is often louder than groups of people thousands of times their size. Would you like to bring back the 18th century American ideal of one person, one voice?
