Definition and Discussion
|
| Degrees of Separation |
The distance from one person to another can be measured by the number of
people in between it takes to connect them. In the discussion of
transferred trust below, I know you, you know Jane, and Jane knows Mike. In that chain of people, Mike and I are separated by two degrees. There are two people between us. It has been estimated that everyone on the planet is separated by no more than six (6) degrees.
As pertains to this campaign, everyone in California may be separated by no more than 3 degrees. Therefore, it should be possible to email everyone you know, have them email everyone they know, and within two more cycles reach everyone in California. For the right message, that would be a very effective distribution mechanism. For everything else, it means a whole lot of SPAM.
