Healthcare Apocolypse |

Today I sent a heated email to the Governor's office for his support
of a regulation and legislation which could lead to the end of our healthcare system. Currently, you and your employer pay for health insurance. In an emergency, your insurer often decides how little they will pay and you are stuck paying for the rest. California law actually protects you and requires health plans to pay for your emergency care. Instead of upholding the law, the health plans have convinced their regulator and the Governor's office that they should be allowed to pay as little as they want and no one should be unhappy about that. The health plans believe that, in violation of our Constitution and only to increase their already huge profits, they should be able to fix the price that others are paid. If this ruling stands, it will destroy what is left of our healthcare system. Contact the
Governor's office (1-916-445-2841) and the
Department of Managed Health Care (1-888-466-2219) and tell them that this "Balance Billing" ruling is unacceptable and must be revised. If this ruling is allowed to stand, many physicians today will stop treating patients in California and seek new opportunities. No one chooses to be an indentured servant.
