Motivation

Why are you doing this?

Our political system is stuck. Politicians continue to raise more money, which means more special interest influence, and the People are becoming dejected and less involved. This means more partisanship and more special interest influence leading to more gridlock in the capitol. It means we don't plan for the future, because we aren't even fixing the problems of today. It is my opinion that until we minimize the money in politics, we will be unable to minimize the influence of special interests. If California continues on its current path, few of us will want to live here in the future. The bankruptcy of the City of Vallejo will be insignificant compared to the bankruptcy of the state of California.

I am running for office to demonstrate how we might change the political system so that we may begin to address the three major crises we now face in California (budget, healthcare, prisons) and the numerous other serious problem areas ranging from education to the justice system. I am running for office because social change is slow, the sooner we start to move forward, the sooner real change in the system can occur. I am running because I do not see anyone else stepping forward to offer real alternatives to the system of politics and government that we have today.

If you are a doctor, how do you have time for this?

My practice is part time. . . .

If you are elected, will you continue to practice as a surgeon?

I plan to. . . .
