three times in 16 years. I have been an elected delegate to
CMA each year since 1994. I am serving my second term as Chair of the Yuba-Sutter Healthcare Council
(http://www.yubasutterhealthcarecouncil.org). I have served as an appointed member to private boards, advisory groups, and non-profit committees. Until now, the closest I came to running for elected office was in 2003. During the recall election for California governor, I had submitted intent to run papers and planned to run a campaign similar to this one. It seemed very unlikely that any of the candidates would be able to raise large amounts of special interest funds before the election, so there was a great opportunity to promote change in the system. Once Mr. Schwarzeneggar and Mr. Bustamante announced that they would run, it was clear that special interest money was still very much alive in the governor's race.
